Mobile Phone Free School (Digital Detox)

At Hollyfield School, we have proudly implemented a ‘Digital Detox Policy’ which means we are a mobile phone free school. We have achieved this with a system called Yondr. Our aim, with your help and support, is to teach our young people positive mobile phone habits, ensuring mobile phones are securely locked away during school hours and therefore allowing students to be fully engaged with their learning and most importantly being safe.

What is Yondr?

The Yondr Programme utilises a simple, secure pouch that stores a phone. Every student will secure their phone in a Yondr pouch when they arrive at school. The pouches are locked by use of magnets and therefore only unlocked when they exit the school with the use of our exit-magnets. Students will keep their pouches in their bags, therefore their phones will remain in their possession but will not and should not be accessed. Students are required to bring their Yondr pouch to and from school each day and are responsible for their pouch at all times.

How Yondr Works

As students enter school, they place their phone in their assigned Yondr Pouch.
Students close and secure their Pouch, keeping it on them throughout the day.
When leaving school, students tap their Pouch on a Base to retrieve their phone.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What if my child has a medical condition or does not bring a phone?	Velcro Yondr pouches can be issued. Please contact the main office for additional information.
What if my child forgets their Yondr pouch?	Students during AM registration hand their phone into the Digital Detox Box on the ground floor of Sharman. They can pick up their phone at the end of the day.
What if my child loses or damages their pouch?	A replacement will need to be purchased. Please contact the school office. In the meantime, your child must hand their phone into the Digital Detox box every morning.
What if we don't wish to purchase a pouch?	Your child must therefore, leave their phone at home. If they are found being in possession of a mobile phone during the school day, the school will confiscate their phone. Please refer to the behaviour policy for additional information.
