Teacher Training

Hollyfield provides a comprehensive CPD (continuous professional development programme) for teachers at every stage of their careers. We are members of the Wandle teaching school hub; an alliance of schools in the London boroughs of Kingston, Merton, Richmond and Wandsworth, formed to provide ongoing development for teachers. We also subscribe to The National College, meaning that our teaching staff, as well as other professionals in the organisation, have access to relevant and well researched training materials at their fingertips.

Early Career Teachers (ECTs)

Along with our colleagues within the Trust, we work closely with the Institute of Education and the Chartered College of Teaching to provide a two year training programme for early career teachers (ECTs). This highly structured, in-house programme involves close mentoring, support and encouragement of new teachers, and exceeds the statutory standards of the DfE’s early career framework. Many of our ECTs go on to build successful careers at Hollyfield.

Initial Teacher Training (ITT)

Each year, we work with local universities and Teaching Schools to provide placements for graduate trainees in a range of subjects. These colleagues take part in a range of training activities, beginning with shadowing and observation, before taking part in team-teaching and whole class teaching activities. They are well supported by mentors, who are subject specialists, and by an Induction Lead, with a whole school overview.

Ongoing Teacher Training

Hollyfield delivers a programme of teacher training throughout the academic year, which includes whole school, departmental and more bespoke CPD sessions for colleagues. We also work collaboratively with colleagues across the Trust, bringing senior and middle leaders together with their counterparts and (every two years) we bring the entire staff of all three schools together for MATSET sessions. Additionally, staff take part in external training sessions, such as those run by exam boards - and we also sponsor staff as they embark on National Professional Qualifications, such as the NPQML., NPQSL and NPQHT.
