Ethos

At The Hollyfield School our aim is to create an inclusive environment where all pupils are valued equally and have the right to an education which includes a broad and balanced curriculum.

We Support

Students who have a wide range of learning difficulties and disabilities are supported in a varied and flexible way.

These students include those who have;

  • Students with special educational needs including:- Communication difficulties including those on the autistic spectrum SLCN
  • Learning Difficulties (LD) both Global and Specific (SpLD)
  • Students with Social Emotional and Mental Health difficulties (SEMH)
  • Physical and Sensory impairment (PSSI) including Visual and Hearing impairment (VI&HI)
  • Medical needs
  • Children Looked After (CLA)
  • Low Literacy and Numeracy
  • A dual registration attending the local Pupil Referral Units (PRU)
Intervention

We offer a wide range of interventions which include:

  • We support students in class as well as helping teachers with differentiation
  • We offer support during the lunchtimes and after school for home learning
  • All of our teachers undertake training so that they can deliver Quality First Teaching
  • We run small groups for literacy, numeracy and speech and language
  • We run a reading initiative, Toe by Toe, for identified students in Year 7 where students make a great deal of progress working with trained pupil mentors
  • Pupils who may have issues on transition from primary school may receive a highly personalised transition package. We work in partnership with our local primary schools to provide the best
Working With Others

We value the input of our stakeholders who include students, parents/carers and other outside agencies; Educational Psychology Service, Family Adolescent and Child Team, Family Advice and Support Service, Enhance able, SEND Family Voices and many others.
