Pupils will complete a number of the activities above across the year with 3 half terms at school and 3 half terms at the school field.

In addition to this pupils in year 7 will have a singles lesson of PE per week where they will cover:

  • Skills
  • Leadership
  • Health and Fitness
  • Dance
  • Rounders
  • Handball
Assessment
  • Pupils will be assessed at the end of each unit/ activity area using sport specific criteria.
  • There will be an end of year test.
  • In addition pupils will be set home learning, with at least one piece per half term based around a literacy task.
Special Requirements/Equipment
  • Pupils should have the correct PE kit as per their school planner.
  • Field kit- School rugby shirt/ black and gold sport t-shirt/ black shorts or skorts/ black tracksuit bottoms/ black football socks/ black school sport sweatshirt/ football boots or trainers depending on weather and activity.

Home Learning

Home learning tasks will be set as per the home learning calendar for Year 7 and will include a variety of different tasks to cement and/or extend learning of key concepts as well as researching new ideas.

Setting

For double games, pupils will be assessed and placed into ability groups. Usually the groups are as follows:

  • Group 1 boys: playing sport to a good level outside of school in at least one activity area
  • Group 2 boys: Competitive performers building on new skills
  • Group 3 boys, girls or mixed depending on the cohort
  • Groups 4 girls playing sport to a good level outside of school in at least one activity area or competitive performers building on new skills

Pupil can change groups depending on progress and group suitability. Our aim is allow pupils to progress as much as possible to suit their needs and challenge level.
