Year 10 Curriculum Information - Maths
Subject outline

Year 10 students will cover the vast majority of the material for the new 9-1 GCSE Maths throughout this year. Students will be working towards sitting the exam at the end of Year 11 where they will meet three 1 hour 30 minutes exam papers (1 non-calculator, 2 calculator). Students have five 50 minute lessons per week. Some students will have the opportunity to also study GCSE Statistics, leading to two maths qualifications at the end of Year 11.

  • Students will continue to be assessed at the end of each half term, but will have greater exposure to GCSE exam materials including past paper questions and mark schemes.
  • Students will sit full GCSE mock papers at the end of the year.

Home Learning

Students will get at least 2 pieces of home learning per week

Useful Websites

In Year 10, students are set according to their mathematical ability in two parallel half year groups with 4 sets in each (10B1 to 10B4 and 10R1 to 10R4). Students will have the opportunity to move sets based on their progress in lessons.
