Reports and Assessments
September 2016

Hollyfield School has very high academic expectations for every child and the targets that we set for each student are aspirational and has led to the significant improvements that we have seen in both GCSE and A Level results over the previous two years.

As we start the new academic year, we are in a transition phase where we have different reporting and assessment systems in place for each year group reflecting the national changes to both KS2 and KS4

Year 7

We report the fine grade that the student is currently working on in each of their subject areas. The new GCSE 1 to 9 grade criteria are used to inform these assessments. The new grade 9 is higher than a GCSE grade A Star.

For example:

Year 8 & Year 9

We report the fine level that the student is currently working on in each of their subject areas. The National Curriculum (NC) KS3 Level criteria are used to inform these assessments.

For example:

Year 10 & Year 11

Some GCSE subjects are currently assessed nationally with grades A* to G and other subjects are assessed nationally with the new number grades 1 to 9 where a grade 9 is higher than the old A* grade.

We always report what we predict the students will get as their final GCSE grade at the end of year 11 if they continue to make the rate of progress we have observed.

For subjects with GCSE grades A* to G we report fine grades. For example:

For subjects with GCSE grades 1 to 9 we report fine grades. For example:
